Checkered Green Set

March 25th 2023

There’s just something about having your clothes custom made that sets them above normal clothes. I had been looking at getting something from Myracle Handmade (now MIA, seriously where are they), but after finding out that Olivia crotched, I decided to go through her since I knew her personally (hence the undetectable bias).

The process took about 2-3 weeks which I think is pretty fast for getting a crotched hat, skirt and top. We discussed material, measurements, and colour. I opted to go for green and white. We met during the process, before it was fully finished, so that she could make sure it would fit and make the according adjustments. The result was a perfectly fitting two-piece checkered set.

The Quality:

I requested that the set be 100% cotton. Design wise all the squares match up and are the same size, and the colours alternate well. No complaints here.

The Fit:

As mentioned before, it was custom made so all issues would have been addressed during the fittings. I’m happy that the hat fit over the passion twists I had in at the time as well.

The Comfort Level:

The set is comfortable because it is 100% cotton. There is also a drawstring at the waist to adjust to the perfect size. It is a little warm because it is a knit cotton mini set, which is a paradox in and of itself.

Overall Thoughts:

The process was interesting because I’ve never had anything handmade by someone in my city before. The set was definitely a head turner. When I wore it downtown it was matched with a pair of gigantic white platform boots, a few people stopped to say I looked really cool. Some others just starred for whatever reason they felt the need to... I would also like to note that after I wore it green checkered items started appearing at stores in my city. Fashion icon? I would like to think so /s.

Final Verdict:

Score:

10/10

Pros:
  • Gives me a big bum

  • Good St Patrick’s day wear

  • Fits perfectly

Cons:
  • I look too cool

  • Bum looks too big, everyone stares

  • What season do you wear a crop knit set in, I didn’t think this through... help
