House of CB - Tallulah Dress
April 22rd 2023
House of CB is a brand that became extra famous during the pandemic for their cottagecore dresses. The first time I saw the Tallulah dress was a dupe listing on AliExpress. It was cute so I ordered it but I was severely disappointed. Though AliExpress is famous for being too small, for me their clothes are sometimes too large. This dress was one of them. Later, I decided to look for the authentic dress in yellow and pink. I found another dupe in yellow, which I sent back, an experience that I’ll write about another time. I did find a green one, but it looked sickly on me so I resold it. Finally, I found the pink Tallulah dress in an XS. The whole process took about five months. In addition to this dress, I also own two other House of CB dresses, the Alicia and the Ellery; stay tuned for those as well!
For reference my measurements are 76 cm bust, 63 cm waist, and 87 cm hips (US: 30” bust, 24.8” waist, 35.35” hips).
The Quality:
The quality of the dress is amazing. The boning is plastic but sturdy. The cotton has a good thickness and the slit hits at a good spot. I haven’t noticed any sewing errors.
The Fit:
Unfortunately, I continue to suffer for the sake of beauty. The dress fits me super tightly and I can’t breathe well in it. If you’re my size, you may have to choose between comfort and style. I could have sized up but it wouldn’t have been as fitted. I did try one of my sister’s House of CB dresses in a size small and it was way too big. The dress is a bit too long on me, but I don’t mind since the slit keeps it from swallowing me like many other long clothing items do. Clothes with slits are definitely superior.
The Comfort Level:
There is comfort in knowing that you look like a million bucks, right? The fabric is comfortable, I guess. Thanks to the boning, the dress has a corset-like fit on me. It is very tight and is thus pretty uncomfortable. Beauty is pain, am I right? I guess I could eat with it on, so there’s that. There is also some tulle in the arms to make them more poofy. I don’t find it irritating, but some others have commented on it.
Overall Thoughts:
Even though the Tallulah dress is a bit tight, I still really like it. There’s no doubt that it’s an extremely flattering dress. Even after the cottagecore trend ends, I’ll still wear this dress and happily look outdated.
Final Verdict:
Score: 9/10 super nice, but super tight
Pros:
Fitted
Nice Colour
Cottagecore dreams?
Cons:
Very tight
Can’t eat with it on
Kind of long even with the slit

Interesting breakdown of the Tallulah dress journey, especially the honest notes on fit and comfort. It really shows how much trial and patience goes into finding something that actually feels right on the body, not just looks good in photos.
From a menswear angle, this kind of styling conversation also connects well with layering pieces like a bomber jacket for men in Canada. In colder seasons, a well structured bomber jacket can completely shift an outfit in the same way a fitted dress does here, balancing comfort with a clean silhouette while still keeping things practical for everyday wear. This kind of approach, especially when building a wardrobe with my keyword in mind, helps create versatile looks that work across…
